Battery Management Systems
MGM Compro BMS systems bring new dimension to economic effectiveness for applications using lithium based batteries. They ensure high end management of energy storage using battery systems (during charging, as well as discharging and that even with very high currents) for various industrial applications, solar and wind plants, intelligent houses, electric vehicles (electric cars, aircraft, boats, paraglides,…), etc. They fully protect your cells and significantly extend their lifespan. As our other signature products, they feature a broad range of settings, protection, diagnostics and communication possibilities.
Intelligence and dynamics
Such systems ensure intelligent and dynamic management of all types of lithium cells and batteries. They are excellent options for systems from a few cells up to systems with hundreds of cells connected in series. The system does not limit battery capacity in any way and can reach into the thousands of Ah.
BMS-2 | Efficiency in its best form
BMS-2 systems balance extremely high currents of up to 10A! This brings significant advantages over competing systems. One basic difference is the speed at which the cells are balanced, which has a fundamental impact on the overall charging process. For LiFePo4-type batteries, where balancing occurs in approximately the last 5 % of the charging process, the balancing speed (the size of the balancing current) is of central importance. Balancing systems with low currents greatly extend the period needed to fully charge these cells (causing a lag), multiple times over in some cases.
BMS-2 systems represent a precise form of protection with advanced diagnostics for all cells in the battery system. All of the critical parameters of every cell are monitored and communicated to a supervisory system (CAN bus) with real time logging of the most important parameters. Data can later be reviewed to identify specific incidents involving an individual cell. This is an invaluable tool for diagnosing and troubleshooting various faults and failures in chargers, incorrect handling of cells or the presence of a defective cell with subsequent application of a claim.
BMS-2 systems eliminate the impact of the internal resistance in cells and power conductors. They feature absolutely unique way to ensure temperature monitoring of the power components (absolute elimination of potential for overheating and destruction is thus ensured). The system enables communication with supervisory systems and collaboration with HBC series controllers.
Simply put, it's an excellent system, chock full of innovative technology and algorithms. It is capable of balancing high currents, providing unique care and extending the life of batteries in the system. These all represent important financial returns.
BMS-16 | Advanced care, compact dimensions
BMS-16 secures precision battery management in smaller systems; specifically those with up to 16 cells and capacity up to 40Ah. Such systems with extremely small dimensions are suitable for use in a wide spectrum of applications. They can easily be integrated into systems (applications) to provide excellent care for individual cells during charging and discharging. They can also be used separately with a charger to provide cell management during the charging process alone. Just like the larger BMS-2 system, the BMS-16 system also features advanced algorithms, advanced care and cell diagnostics and monitoring to maximize cell life and cost efficiency.
When weight is the priority
Our portfolio includes systems for dividing the BMS into "airborne" and "ground" sections. This is able to save on battery bank weight. This also decreases balancing demands, in particular on the cooling system, as waste heat is generated by balancing when charging these batteries. In such cases, the discharge (during flight) is taken care of by the speed controller or the so called "airborne" part of the BMS system which is extremely light and compact. The "ground" section of the BMS is the balancing charger. In such cases the "airborne" section of the BMS is used during charging to monitoring the charging process and logs data. The concept is a custom-built solution, primarily intended for electric aircraft, where keeping the weight of individual components to an absolute minimum is a critical factor.
